What is the Inspiration behind Kerala Cafe?

Who choose the actors for each movie in Kerala Cafe?
Each individual director chooses their cast and crew for the short films.
Your Personal outlook about kerala Cafe?
Its a very special venture that has promoted the fraternity spirit in the Malayalam film industry. For me personally, it has been a warm and wonderful interaction with each of the filmmakers and technicians and a chance to learn so much. Kerala cafe is my first release and I thank Capitol Theatre for the opportunity.
Can we consider Kerala Cafe as a director’s Movie?
Kerala Cafe is a celebration of the directorial spirit. It invokes the Director to always be the captain of their ship. In KC, we can see the individual perspective of each Director, so it is definitely a movie of Directors.
Will Kerala Cafe create a new trend in malayalam film industry?
I am hopeful that the success of Kerala Cafe will encourage producers to take more risks and bring fresh ideas for the contemporary audience. The audiences will in turn prove whether they are ready for the change that they always ask for. If the two come together, then we can expect some fabulous innovations.
In this venture we see directors with different perspectives and outlook coming together what is the common thread that made them blend their ideas?
The ideas came from each director and they represent various facets of Kerala society. So this multiplicity was allowed to grow. Ranjith has brought these situations and characters into a common symbiotic space called Kerala Cafe. In this space, we see the metaphor for life being more about the journey than about the destination. That theme is the common thread that runs through each film.
How did you get into this project?
Like all directors, I too was invited by Ranjith / Capitol Theatre to participate in this venture by making a short film.
Can you brief about your short film in Kerala Cafe?
Happy Journey is a quirky take on male-female power play in our society.
